Total Grain Inspections Down 24% From Week Ended July 11; Down 42% From 2018

This article has been reprinted from USDA's June 25 Grain Transportation Report.

For the week ending July 18, total inspections of grain (corn, wheat, and soybeans) for export from all major U.S. export regions reached 1.48 million metric tons (mmt).

This amount is down 24 percent from the previous week, down 42 percent from last year, and 36 percent below the 3-year average.

Weekly inspections are also the lowest since the first week of January.

Although wheat inspections increased 24 percent from the previous week, the increase could not offset the large drop in corn and soybean inspections.

Grain inspections decreased 52 percent from the previous week in the Mississippi Gulf and 24 percent in the Pacific Northwest (PNW).

Despite the overall drop in inspections of grain, Texas Gulf grain inspections jumped 75 percent from the past week and are up 85 percent from year-to-date.
