Hot Bearing Blamed for Conveyor Fire at Co-Alliance Grain Elevator, Goodland, IN

Goodland, IN — Fire officials blamed a hot bearing for sparking a conveyor belt fire at the Co-Alliance Grain Elevator facility Sunday, Sept. 20, just outside Goodland, according to a Newton County Enterprise report.

Four area fire departments helped at the scene, finding two conveyor belts on fire and a small fire inside a corn bin, according to Goodland Fire Chief Jeff Miller.

Firefighters quickly contained the fire and were on the scene for more than two hours on Sunday, but had to return on Monday when the fire rekindled inside the bin. No injuries were reported.
