Sioux Steel Company Acquires AgriSphere, LLC

“As our industry continues to mature in the use of software and technology, it only makes sense to begin integrating hardware systems with software systems to continue improving operational capabilities for our customers” said Frank Byers, co-founder and remaining president of AgriSphere.

He goes on to explain how more “intelligent” agricultural hardware systems and activities, such as en masse grain handling process flows, operational procedures, and maintenance tasks, can be improved through the incorporation of automation, data-driven analysis, and even data analytics via machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

While this all may sound far into the future and very expensive, the price of these types of technologies is steadily declining and becoming more common place in most other industries in our world.

And while some of this technology is being used today in our industry in areas such as genetic / seed science, precision agronomy, and weather prediction, it is only a matter of time before this level of sophistication makes its way into agri-business operations and business management practices.

The group is planning on introducing new software-enabled and networked hardware products with the initial focus to help improve safety for common procedures in our industry, such as grain bin entries.

In the meantime, AgriSphere will continue serving its existing customers and offering its products and services to the industry.
