U.S. Energy Information Administration (Sept. 9): Ethanol Production Recovers Slightly, Ending Stocks Dwindle

Production of fuel ethanol in the United States recovered last week from the previous week's low but was not enough to prevent further tightening of ending stocks, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Production remained below 1 million barrels per day for the fifth week in a row but climbed to an average of 923,000 barrels per day for the week ending Sept. 3 from 905,000 barrels per day the week before.

This represents an increase of nearly 2% but remained the lowest ethanol production since March.

Meanwhile weekly U.S. ethanol ending stocks slid to 20.390 million barrels last week — representing a decline of more than 3% from 21.110 million barrels week-to-week.
