Even so, production remained below 1 million barrels per day for the ninth week in a row.
Production averaged 978,000 barrels per day for the week ending Oct. 1 compared to 914,000 barrels per day the week before.
This represents an increase of about 7%.
Meanwhile weekly U.S. ethanol ending stocks shrank more than 1% to 19.931 million barrels from 20.220 million barrels week-to-week.
Ending stocks had not been so low since early June.
