USDA Grain and Feed Update (Jan. 5): Pakistan's Wheat Import Forecast Down, Rice Production Is Up

Islamabad, PK — The wheat import forecast for Pakistan is reduced from 2.5 to 2 million tons, given the pace of imports during the first six months of 2021/22.

By contrast, the 2021/22 rice production estimate is increased from 8.2 to a record 8.9 million tons, now that harvest has produced better-than-expected yields.

Rice exports are expected to reach 4.5 million tons in 2021/22.
