USDA Grain and Feed Annual: Strong Exports of Corn, Barley Projected For Argentina

Buenos Aires, AR — Argentina's barley production, now projected higher than the official USDA estimate of 3 million metric tons (MMT), is expected to result in record exports of 3.7 MMT in marketing year (MY) 2022/23.

This information comes from an April 25 report by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Corn exports in MY 2022/2023 are also projected at 38 MMT, the second-highest on record.

FAS also forecasts wheat production higher than the USDA official estimate of 21.9 MMT but projects exports down at 12.6 MMT as result of a smaller acreage and lower productivity.

Sorghum exports are forecast at 2 MMT for MY 2022/2023, the same as in the previous marketing year.
