2021/22 Board Chair Mike Schuster Says AFIA Boasts On-Demand Expertise

"The AFIA has certainly maintained its reputation as a trusted resource for expertise on issues associated with the animal food industry.

"That expertise is communicated in various platforms to the membership, government officials and through the media.

"Recently, the AFIA has leveraged these strengths in the form of coalitions with industry partners. It is critical to convey positive messages regarding the animal food industry whenever possible," says Mike Schuster, Laidig Systems, Inc., AFIA chair 2021-22.

The American Feed Industry Association recently released its annual, “Our Industry, Our Promise,” report, detailing the challenges the U.S. animal food industry faced over the past year and the steps the AFIA took to address member priorities.

In the past year, our staff has provided members with on-demand expertise in:

Preparing for the return to in-person, routine site inspections, including providing tips and information for navigating the Food and Drug Administration’s comprehensive regulatory approach;

Updating members on the latest research pertinent to improving their biosecurity plans, including ways they could reduce the threat of African swine fever at their manufacturing facilities;

Helping members unpack supply chain bottlenecks, including explaining how they could speak up to resolve domestic supply chain issues and maintain U.S. competitiveness amid global pressures;

And more!
