According to today's USDA Grain Transportation Report, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently announced it will provide millions of dollars in emergency relief (ER) funding to help repair roads and bridges damaged by storms, floods, wildfires, and other events in recent years.

The ER will include disbursements to the following major grain-producing States: Missouri, $12.0 million; Ohio, $2.1 million; Illinois, $1.5 million; North Dakota, $1.3 million; Iowa, $750,000; Minnesota, $230,000.

FHWA notes that transportation infrastructure is facing more frequent and unpredictable damage from severe weather events.

To address this rising threat, the agency intends the ER repairs to improve the infrastructure’s durability.
