AAFCO to Offer Course on Animal Feed Ingredient Submission/Approval Processes

The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) has announced the availability of AAFCO courses on animal feed ingredient submission/approval processes.

The course is offered in two formats: self-paced online and in-person.

AAFCO said the courses have been designed for domestic and international manufacturers and distributors of ingredients used in premixes, livestock feeds, and pet foods in the United States.

The cost for the online course is $300, with approximately 3.25 hours of content.

The cost to attend the in-person training to be held on Jan. 16 from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. in conjunction with the AAFCO 2023 Midyear Meeting in San Antonio, TX is $120.

The self-paced online course is broken into 11 modules that will cover the requirements of AAFCO's ingredient definition process, Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) Notifications, and Food Additive Petitions.

The online course is available through AAFCO's learning platform at any time.

The in-person Animal Feed Ingredient Submission training on Jan. 16 in San Antonio is intended for participants to learn more about the various ingredient approval processes in the U.S. and partake in a special Q&A with AAFCO and U.S. Food and Drug Administration subject matter experts.

“To maximize the learning experience, it is STRONGLY recommended that participants complete the online course prior to attending the in-person training,” AAFCO noted.
