Viterra-Bunge Deal to Rescue Argentine Soy Processor at Risk
According to a Bloomberg article:
- Vicentin SAIC, the former crown jewel of Argentine soy processing, went bankrupt three years ago.
- Viterra and Bunge Ltd. were ready to take over operations in a joint-venture $1.3 billion deal.
- The deal is in danger of falling through due to court delays and Argentina's record drought.
- If the court delays continue and the deal is stalled, the currently idled plants will fall into disuse and hundreds of workers will lose their jobs.
