Encoder-based landing system improves ride quality

In March, Schumacher Elevator introduced an encoder-based landing system to its line of special purpose personnel elevators (SPPE).

According to Senior Sales Associate Mike Moss, the new system reduces installation time and costs, improves ride quality, and requires installing only two switches at the top and bottom of the hoistway in grain facilities.

“With the encoder-based landing system,” explains Moss, “the positioning system reads an encoder tape, so installers no longer need to run conduit for switches, reducing installation time by a week or so. This means adjustments that used to take two days, now might take only two hours.”

Simplified Maintenance

“In addition to easier installation, the encoder-based landing system offers simplified maintenance,” he adds. “There are no hoistway switches to adjust or accumulate dust. Old cage lifts with dated or worn switches may leave companies exposed to unnecessary risk of accidents.”
