Product Review ... Belt Conveyor Gate Accessory

AGI Hi Roller has been designing and manufacturing a line of totally enclosed, self-cleaning, and reloading belt conveyors since 1978.

These include its original Hi Roller model, which utilizes a spool-shaped idler to form a trough for the conveyor belt, and the Hi Life model, equipped with three independent idlers.

According to Sales Manager Mike Spillum, AGI Hi Roller also manufactures various accessories designed to complement its product line. “Over the past 40 years, we’ve incorporated a number of accessories to save space, shorten installation time, and lead to a cleaner installation. The more we can integrate these options at our facility, the better matched they will be in the field. The customer is no longer relying on the installation crew to match everything themselves.

“Along with discharge options, including intermediate trippers and two-way valves,” says Spillum, “AGI Hi Roller has seen growing demand for options to introduce product into the conveyor. Feeding the conveyor properly is crucial for good belt tracking and for achieving design capacity. By designing both the control gate and the conveyor inlet, we have better control over these items.”

Control Gate Features and Options

• UHMW-lined slide gates.

• Cam follower bearing-supported gates.

• Single-opening gates or multiple-opening ladder gates.

• Electric actuator-controlled or rack-and-pinion style with a right angle gear reducer.

• Manual cleanout gates with hand wheels.

• Inlets designed to enclose the underside of the gate fully to prevent dust escape.
