Product Review...Buhler Group; Arrius Integrated Grinding System in Plymouth, MN

Bühler in mid-November introduced its Arrius integrated grinding system, which is designed to offer lower energy consumption, faster installation, improved food safety, and high operating reliability and grinding performance.

According to Ruedi Weiss, senior sales director, milling solutions, North America, Arrius is an integrated grinding system, meaning the switch cabinet, drive, gearbox, and web server – which provides the link to digital services – are all built in.

Automatic Adjustment Sensors

“At the heart of the Arrius step change lie the sensors in the feeding module and the roller pack,” explains Weiss, “enabling greater control of the product flow and grinding process.

This means Arrius is designed to adjust automatically to the characteristics of the raw material.

“Double-sided sensors in the robust, new roller pack allow millers, for the first time, to continuously measure the grinding force of the rollers,” he says.

“This unique feature allows the miller to control the grinding process closely and thus optimize product characteristics for their specific market.”

Remote Control Application

Arrius includes a remote app for smartphones and tablets that allows operators to control all grinding parameters from anywhere within the mill’s network.

“Food safety features,” says Weiss, “include a feeding module designed for total product discharge, a streamlined design, and increased aspiration in the grinding chamber also cut product deposits. The hygienic leveling feet that support the machinery are designed to improve food safety by enabling total under-machine cleaning.”
