Panama Canal Authority Increased Draft For Neopanamax Vessels

This article has been reprinted from the Sept. 26 USDA Grain Transportation Report.

On September 12, 2019, The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) announced that—effective immediately and until further notice—the maximum authorized draft allowed for vessels transiting through the Neopanamax locks has been increased to 14.02 meters (46.0 feet) Tropical Fresh Water.

The ACP based its decision on the present and projected water level of Gatun Lake for the upcoming weeks.

The ACP will continue to closely monitor the level of Gatun Lake to announce future draft adjustments quickly.
