It is time to prepare your OSHA’s “Summary of work related injuries and illnesses.”
This is the first thing OSHA looks at if you have an inspection.
If you have more than 10 employees, you are required to post the OSHA 300 log for 2019 from February 1 to April 30, 2020.
Please note that seasonal employees count in your total number of employees.
For example, if your company normally has 8 full-time employees and you hire 4 seasonal employees for harvest – in OSHA’s eyes you have 12 employees.
There are actually three forms included with the OSHA 300 recordkeeping rules: the 300, 300A, and the 301(workers compensation first report of injury form can be used in place of the 301 form).
Only form 300A is posted.
In order to protect the privacy of any injured workers, the form does not contain their names.
A common mistake made is leaving the log blank when there have been no injuries or illnesses for the year.
In this situation, you still must post the log with zeros written in the blank lines.
All three forms can be found here.
Lastly, don’t forget to sign and date the OSHA 300 log.
Remember
(i.e. If you have five facilities you must keep five separate logs with hours worked and average number of employees)
