KSU–GEAPS Grain Elevator Managers Course ... April 30-May 1 ... Manhattan, KS

Manhattan KS – The IGP Institute at Kansas State University in collaboration with the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) will host the Grain Elevator Managers course from April 30 ­– May 3, 2024, at the IGP Institute Conference Center in Manhattan, KS.

This course provides valuable training for individuals who are or will soon be responsible for supervising grain managers.

This course focuses on the science behind the practices used in grain management, working to understand the way grain behaves in various weather and storage situations.

It provides new managers with the information needed to correctly interpret the experiences they will have when managing grain quality, and the insight they will require when evaluating the practices used by their predecessors.

Course topics will include receiving and shipping grain; grain quality management; grain handling equipment, maintenance, and safety; grain drying, condition monitoring, aeration strategies, and fumigation; operation costs; inventory management; and personnel management, including hiring and training new employees.

Individuals who work in grain processing facilities with storage, operations, and logistics activities, such as grain operations, procurement, maintenance, or management will benefit from this training.

The course will be led by industry experts and instructors who bring decades of experience in grain handling and facility management.

Participants will visit K-State facilities including the Hal Ross Flour Mill, where K-State houses conveying equipment used for instruction and maintenance training.
