The Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER) and the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC) is hosting a webinar to discuss results of a recent study examining feed mill decontamination strategies in the event of an African swine fever (ASF) outbreak. The webinar will take place December 19 at 12p.m. EST, and American Feed Industry Association members can register now.

IFEEDER collaborated with ANAC, the United Soybean Board and the Swine Health Information Center last year on a Kansas State University (KSU) project to explore feed mill decontamination strategies following the inadvertent introduction of ASF or other animal diseases. The research evaluated disinfection and flushing procedures on equipment using three viruses known to be most stable in feed and endemic in the United States. During the webinar, KSU researchers will discuss their findings, including implications for improving the North American feed industries’ ASF biosecurity plans.
