Five to ten arc flash events occur in United States on any given day, results in over 7,000 injuries annually

For more than 20 years, Interstates has performed arc flash studies to quantify the arc flash hazard within a facility and provide recommendations for mitigating the hazards detected.

According to Jaron Vande Hoef, senior project manager and principal, “Five to 10 arc flash events occur in the United States on any day, resulting in more than 7,000 burn injuries annually.

“Arc flash can be caused by conductive dust, human error, aging equipment, equipment failure, or poorly maintained equipment,” explains Vande Hoef.

Maintain Compliance

“Regular arc flash studies are required to maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and standards associated with electrical safety,” he says. “We have the tools and expertise to provide a cost-effective solution that will ensure personnel safety and identify areas of risk that threaten safe operations in a two-week process,” he adds, “compared to a six- to eight-week process by competitors.”
