Established in 1912, the Port of Coos Bay, Coos Bay, OR, is the largest coastal deep-water port between Puget Sound and San Francisco, CA.

According to Director of External Affairs and Business Development Margaret Barber, the port is an increasingly attractive option for Midwest agricultural producers to export grains, especially soybeans.

“The port is unique in that it owns and operates the Coos Bay Rail Line,” says Barber, “which is a 134-mile short-line railroad that operates from Eugene, OR to the Port of Coos Bay and connects to the North American rail system.”

No Assessorial Fees

“At a time of historic levels of congestion at many West Coast ports, freight is sitting and incurring tremendous expenses. The Port of Coos Bay provides a high level of customer service and moves product quickly. In addition, there are no accessorial fees,” adds Barber. “We also own more than 2,000 acres in the port that can be developed for rail access.”

Features

• Working to deepen the shipping channel to 45-foot depth.

• Since opening in 2011, the port has invested $100 million in the Coos Bay Rail Line.

• No congestion issues compared to other West Coast ports.

• Ready-to-develop greenfield space.
