Door Demon features lower maintenance costs

This article is taken from the January/February 2019 GRAIN JOURNAL

Founded in 1985, Arnold Company introduced a redesigned railcar hopper gate opener, the Door Demon, in 2004. Today, the Door Demon product line includes a complete line of railcar and hopper trailer openers.

According to Owner and President Albert Middeke, “Prior to the Door Demon, the early versions of railcar openers were almost all impacting units. Our continuous torque-type openers brought a solution that was extremely powerful but also smoother and quieter, and operators really have appreciated this.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

“Our Door Demon openers are built to last, and they have significantly lower maintenance costs compared to other railcar openers,” he says. “We have customers who are still using and maintaining units they purchased more than 15 years ago.”

Various Options

Per Middeke, “In addition to our design and quality, the breadth of our product line also offers a key advantage. With the variety of options offered in the Door Demon line of products, we can meet virtually any customer need. We realize that very few rail unloading areas are the same, so we strive to offer solutions that work in our customers’ various environments.”

Features

  • Power options primarily include pneumatic power, AC electric power over hydraulic, DC electric over hydraulic, and manual.
  • Portable wheeled versions feature several customizable options. Beam-mounted units, and units that mount to a conveyor, forklift, or skid steer also are available.
